Why I started Comple and what it means for sellers

Matt Collinge

I started Comple because so many talented salespeople fall short of their potential - not because they lack ability, but because they lack the right support. Most sellers don’t need another training course or a thinly veiled numbers review masquerading as a 1-to-1. What they really need is clarity, confidence, and someone genuinely in their corner.

Over the years, I’ve seen how the right guidance can completely shift someone’s performance, earnings, and career trajectory. And one thing is clear: when sellers get personalised support, everything becomes easier - decisions, deals, development. I wanted to create a space where that kind of support isn’t rare or reserved for a lucky few. Comple exists to give sellers access to trusted peers and mentors who help them navigate complexity, unlock their strengths, and accelerate their success.

What problem are you solving?

Sales can be a lonely job. You’re expected to stay resilient, make smart decisions, and deliver results - often without the time, space, or support to do it well. Internal enablement has value, but it’s rarely built around the individual; it’s built around the company. And it’s often the same with external support - when the employer pays the bill, the priorities naturally lean their way.

What I’ve learned is this: most sellers don’t struggle because they lack skill. They struggle because they’re expected to grow in isolation. The gap I wanted to close is the one between what sellers typically get and what they actually need - personalised guidance, honest conversations, strategic thinking, and people who understand the realities of the job without the politics or pressure.

How does Comple help?

Comple gives sellers something they rarely get - a partner who works for them, not their employer. Someone who brings clarity to their goals, structure to their development, and real strategic insight to their deals, territory, and career. It’s for anyone who’s ambitious about their growth; whether you’re early in your career and want direction, an experienced seller sharpening your edge, or a high performer aiming for leadership.

The support comes through three pillars that work together. It starts with private mentoring - real 1-to-1 conversations with someone who’s actually carried quota and lived the job, backed by direct messaging when you need clarity in the moment. Alongside that is peer connection, where members are paired with sellers from across the industry to swap ideas, sanity check decisions, and learn from each other without the internal politics. And then there are the shared experiences; the roundtables, meetups, and guest speakers that create real conversations, real stories, and a sense of community without the corporate noise.

Put all of that together and the outcome is powerful: people perform better, earn more, and progress faster. And that’s exactly why Comple exists.

What makes Comple different?

Comple is built around the individual, not the company. There’s no corporate agenda, no internal politics, and no one size fits all playbook. Everything is shaped around the seller - their goals, strengths and ambitions.

It’s grounded in real, lived experience as opposed theory and recycled frameworks - the human side of selling. I’ve done the job at every level, from SDR to AE to sales leader, and I’ve worked across startups, scaleups, and global tech companies. I’ve seen the pressure, the targets, the politics, and the realities from every angle, which means the guidance is practical, not theoretical.

At the end of the day, sellers need someone who genuinely understands the job, the pressure, the opportunities and who can help them navigate all three with clarity and confidence.

What impact do you want Comple to have, and what does success look like?

I want Comple to become the place where sellers go to grow - not just in their numbers, but in their careers and confidence. If someone looks back and says, “That was the moment I started moving faster toward my goals,” then Comple has done its job. The goal is simple: help people achieve the performance, earnings, and career success they’re capable of - faster and with far less friction.

So success is seeing members hit targets they once thought were out of reach, earn more than they believed possible, and step into roles they didn’t think they were ready for. It’s watching people gain clarity, momentum, and belief in themselves.

If Comple becomes the trusted partner behind those moments, that’s success.

What’s next?

Comple will grow as a community and a platform but the heart of it will always be independent, personalised support. Over time, I want to expand the member experience with more shared learning and more ways for sellers to accelerate their careers together. But the mission stays the same - helping people succeed in a way that’s lasting and personal.
